Medicus

My first found art sculpture was a robot made sometime in elementary school, but my new wave of inspiration came when I saw a crutch and some old  electronics and thought: "That could kind of look like a person!" Over the course of the next four hours, Medicus was constructed using hot glue, old motherboards, and a thrifted set of crutches. The piece is a commentary on how certain doctors act more like mechanical drug dealers rather than health care professionals bound by The Hippocratic Oath. Using the Opioid epidemic as an example, all too often are unsafe prescription drugs pushed with the sickly green dollar bearing more weight than the well being of the people.
